Teleportation technology is already well developed but being withheld by TPTB from public access. Ditto for antigravity and free energy technologies. It makes no more sense to promote maglev than it does to promote solar or wind, all of which are obsoleted by the foregoing.

I agree about the teleportation tech. Right now if it were implemented, all employees of transportation infrastructure would be out of a job and we would have the hardest economy crash the world has ever seen.. Make the 1920's depression look like nothing. Truckers, bus drivers, taxi drivers, pizza deliveries, mailman, UPS and FED-EX, petroleum workers, Salvage yard workers, parts store workers, factory workers, back yard mechanics, auto dealerships, insurance companies, and pretty much 75% of the total infrastructure around the wold all out of jobs and no money to support families. A devastating collapse of the entire system that grew around the automotive world would be dead.

This tech needs to be integrated very slowly to have a gradual change over to save from having a major financial explosion of death and destruction of humanity.

If we jumped on doing a mag-lev rail system right now it would create millions of jobs and be a benefit to humanity right now. So what if it is rendered obsolete in the next several years or so. We are putting people back to work and increasing prosperity and quality of life. We are not just looking for a better and cheaper way to get to the corner store or Mars from our kitchen in a blink of an eye, we are looking at improving humanity and quality of life with some intelligence and care. You cannot just dump transporters on the people and think everyone would be happy and better off. That would be absolutely suicidal. This new tech must be integrated with intelligence and care using time for assimilation to happen at a healthy rate.
